Andy Spurling, B.A., LL.B. - President
As the President, Andy is engaging the Proline team to transform the property management industry to inspire trust through demonstrated dedication to honesty, integrity and transparency. Andy’s goal is to help the many individual communities in their portfolio be sought after places to live and continue to work hard at increasing job satisfaction for Proline’s many employees.
Andy oversees the day-to-day operations of the company and also provides property management services to some clients. He is a member of our Executive Team and oversees the activities of our property managers. Andy holds a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria. Prior to joining Proline in 2007, he acted as counsel for Bell Canada. Andy has also worked in major law firms in both Toronto and New York. Andy is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Law Society of British Columbia, as well as the Canadian Bar Association and Victoria Bar Association. Andy is also a member of the Strata Initiatives Task Force at the Victoria Real Estate Board. Andy was also part of the Real Estate Council of British Columbia’s Strata Management Advisory Group for the 2013/2014 term. As a family business, we are also actively involved in the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise, where Andy served as President of the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Island Chapter for two years and as Chair of the Governance Committee.
Eric Spurling, FRI, RI (BC), CRF, CPM - Founder
Our Founder has had considerable experience in the management and real estate fields. He continues to be active in the day-to-day management of the company and is a member of our Executive Team. Eric has been involved in the real estate industry, property management and the lending and asset management field in Victoria for the past 40 years.
Eric holds diplomas from the University of British Columbia in Urban Land Economics in both the property management and appraisal specialty areas. Eric also holds recognized professional designations in these areas and in Real Estate Finance from both the Real Estate Institute of Canada and the Real Estate Institute of B.C. Eric has also earned the CPM (Certified Property Manager) designation, which is awarded by the Institute of Real Estate Management. This is the highest recognition of professionalism in the property management field awarded in North America.
In addition to his professional designations, Eric has held positions as Chair of the Rental Housing Council of B.C., the Apartment Owners & Property Managers Association of B.C. and the Victoria Chapter of the Real Estate Institute of Canada. Eric is a past Governor of the Real Estate Institute of B.C. and a past director of the Strata Property Agents of B.C. Eric is currently a director of CFAX Santas Anonymous Society, a charity helping children and families on lower Vancouver Island.
Dwight Mueller, B.B.A., CPA, CA - Vice President Finance
Dwight oversees our accounting functions and is a member of our Executive Team, as well as manages a number of large strata corporations. Dwight has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Trinity Western University and earned his CA designation with Deloitte and Touche in 1992. After a term as an Audit Manager, Dwight worked for a Victoria based Real Estate Investment/Holding firm prior to joining Proline in 2003.
Kelly Whitney - Vice President Operations
As the Vice President Operations Kelly provides oversight on practices, works with in-house teams to create innovative efficient procedures and ever evolving fresh, impressive deliverables. An active member of our Executive Team Kelly is also our branch office liason, handles marketing, and maintains our green team. Kelly has amazing follow up skills and much to the chagrin of some of the team members she keeps track of even the smallest of tasks. Kelly has been with us since 2010 (minus a couple of maternity leaves) and brings a practical and hands on approach to our company.
Kathryn Squires Basson, CPHR - Director of Culture & Community
Kathryn leads the creation and implementation of learning initiatives for team members, clients and community members including Proline Academy sessions and internal education. A member of the Executive Team, she works to create community and connection through sharing knowledge and understanding. Kathryn earned her degree from UVic and taught English in the Czech Republic and Taiwan for six years before joining the Proline team in 2009, where she has worked in progressive administrative, supervisory and HR positions. She is delighted to contribute her experience, enthusiasm and unique abilities to help make some magic happen in our community.
Paul Merrien, B.A., CPM - Manager - Strata Department
Paul moved to Victoria from England in 2009. He maintains a strata management portfolio, is heavily involved with new business, trains junior property managers and is part of the Executive Team. Paul has also earned the CPM (Certified Property Manager) designation, which is awarded by the Institute of Real Estate Management. This is the highest recognition of professionalism in the property management field awarded in North America. Paul's previous experience prior to joining Proline was working for law firms in Great Britain where he dealt with and prepared regulatory submissions and followed up on various infractions primarily within the liquor licensing system.
Kristy Kulyk, B.A. - Manager, Mid-Island
Kristy maintains a strata management portfolio, is involved with new business in the mid-island region and trains junior property managers. Continuing education has played a critical role in Kristy’s development. She is nearing the completion of the Urban Land Economics program through UBC’s Sauder School of Business and has obtained the RCM (Registered Condominium Manager) designation. She brings experience working with a significant local land developer for a number of years and has also spent 5+ years serving on her strata council, including some time as the Council President. Kristy has also been active in the community working with various community support groups.
Katherine Soetaert, B.Comm., CPA, CMA - Strategy & Compliance
Kathy is a member of our Executive Team who manages our special projects, evaluates our opportunities for growth, provides oversight of our reconciliations and statements, as well as facilitates our annual trust audit. Kathy has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and earned her CMA designation in 1993. Kathy worked in Public Accounting, Manufacturing and Government in Canada and overseas prior to joining Proline in 2005.
Kelsey Webb, CPA, CGA - Manager - Accounting
Kelsey oversees the accounting department at Proline as well as handles many day-to-day activities within the accounting department. Kelsey has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria and has held a CPA, CGA designation since 2012. Her background in banking and small business lead her to a position at Proline in 2009.
Alix Baldwin - Executive Assistant
Having joined the Executive Team in 2017 after a year of running our front desk at our head office, Alix provides support to Andy, Eric, and the rest of the Executive Team. She helps to handle new business, assists in the operations of our branch offices, and has an integral role in customer service training. Alix is a proponent of education for those living in strata and rental communities and is a true believer in Proline’s purpose of helping people live and grow together. Outside of work, Alix spends lots of time with family, loves to mountain bike, cook, and eat.
Michael is a senior rental property manager and has been with the company since 1991. Michael relocated to Victoria in 1991 from Montreal where he was involved in a manufacturing business for many years. Michael manages a portfolio of primarily single-family dwellings and condominium units, as well as some small apartments.
Elaine is a senior strata property manager. Originally from Ontario, Elaine held a number of accounting and administrative positions before becoming involved in property management in the early nineties. Elaine has been with Proline since relocating to Victoria and presently manages a portfolio of large, high end strata corporations.
Laura is a senior rental property manager. Laura has had many years of administrative experience and experience dealing with people. Originally joining Proline in an administrative capacity, Laura also worked in our accounting department before becoming a property manager. Laura manages a portfolio of single-family dwellings and individual condo units, as well as some multi-family properties.
Alan is a strata property manager. Alan has 30 years experience in graphics design, production and management, and brings his experience to the strata management team at Proline. Alan is responsible for a variety of strata developments with an emphasis on larger buildings.
Kate is a rental property manager specializing in single condominium, single family dwelling rentals and apartment buildings. Kate has been with us for over 10 years. Prior to joining Proline Kate worked with another local management company in rental management administration.
With over 10 years of Property Management experience Adam has developed a reputation of reliable (and ruthlessly efficient) solution focused thinking. Employing a unique and systematic approach to managing the myriad of information and communication native to the industry, his wit and ability to quickly transition from task to task have made him a great fit for his career. Adam is currently expanding his knowledge base through enrolment in the internationally recognized CPM program at REIC. Adam spends his off time away from screens and phones; adventuring with his young family at the beach, in the forest, and camping.
Andrea is a strata property manager. She moved from Winnipeg to Victoria in 2010. Having spent four years in the administrative role here at Proline, Andrea is intimately familiar with all of the "back stage" processes at Proline that support the strata manager role. In addition to her work with Proline, Andrea is an avid animal lover. She volunteers at the Victoria branch of the BC SPCA as a dog walker and also spent a summer volunteering with WildARC, interacting mainly with raccoons and small birds.
Ray is a strata property manager who moved to Victoria from Toronto. He brings over 20 years of experience in strategic planning and sales/customer service management to Proline’s strata management team along with 8 years of strata council experience.
Gayle is a Financial Planner turned Property Manager. Gayle joined the Proline team in 2016 bringing with her a background in investment planning and personal protection. In her new role, Gayle quickly developed a reputation for high-level customer service and confident quick-to-action problem solving. Gayle is passionate about matching properties with people – her favourite part about being a Property Manager is making the call to offer someone their new home. Gayle spends her free time with her young family enjoying life on the Peninsula, where she resides, and other adventures on and around Vancouver Island.
Asaan joined the Proline team in 2018 and works primarily with properties in the Westshore. Asaan moved to Victoria from Vancouver in 2012 and has over 9 years of experience working in customer service.
Ben is a strata property manager. Ben brings with him over 8 years in construction and land development. Born in British Columbia, Ben is often found outdoors, socializing, and enjoying Victoria’s great local eateries and festivals that are some of the many benefits of living downtown Victoria.
Sam is a Property Manager and has been a member of the Proline team since 2017. He graduated from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree having completed a double major in Creative Writing and English Literature. In addition to providing information regarding bylaws, insurance, operations, and other strata matters, Sam is happy to help clients with ideas on improving their strata community, how to implement those ideas and assistance in enjoying their communal home. Of Proline’s five paradigms, insidious joy resonates the most with Sam, being the perfect way to describe the relentless pursuit of instilling joy in every day interactions. One of Sam’s goals is to make at least one person smile every day and to bring kindness to everyone he interacts with. Outside of the office, Sam spends time writing and exploring the island, all with his fiancée and their two pets.
Trevor is our newest rental property manager, joining Proline in November 2019. Trevor previously worked as a rental property manager for a company in Nanaimo and has an extensive background in trades and customer service. Trevor owned and managed a successful painting company before making the decision to change careers due to injury.
Antoinette Wilson is a Certified Strata Property Manager who manages a portfolio of properties throughout Greater Victoria. Previously, she worked as a designer for the event and entertainment industry in Vancouver until she relocated to Victoria in 2012. She brings 4 years of experience in the property management industry where she started in the administration and assistant role until becoming a licensed manager. Antoinette is dedicated to helping strata corporations maintain and improve their property, buildings, and the community of residents within them.
Jonathan is a new addition to the Proline team. He has completed the Rental Property Management and Strata Management course and is currently working as a licensed Strata Manager in training. He brings many years of retail management experience with him. He values a high level of service for clients and understands the importance of relationships in all aspects of life.
Maria is a property manager that works with a portfolio of our Nanaimo stratas. Maria was born and raised in the Oceanside area and graduated from Kwalikum Secondary School in 1991. She has two children, loves the outdoors, and races cars at Saratoga Speedway in the figure 8 crash division with her son.
Our Accounting and Administrative Staff
We presently have an administrative/accounting support team of 19 people. Our support staff members have all enjoyed a variety of experiences, both in and out of the property management area. This team's diverse skills blend very well to provide excellent service, accounting and administration for our clients.
